Celebrating the Triumph of Agape International School's First Graduating Class

Our society cannot afford a two-tiered system in which the affluent have access to superior education, while everyone else is subjected to a dull and incoherent classroom experience. Academic excellence, educational equity, and fairness demand a strong foundation of knowledge for all learners. - E.D. Hirsch. Jr.

The story of Agape International School began in the fall of 2019 with hope and genuine longing to create educational opportunities for children in Gaa Imam, Kwara State, Nigeria. Nigeria's educational system largely depends on private schools to educate its citizens, marginalizing children from low-income families. The Agape dream is that of hope and love wrapped in the vision of its founder, co-founder, administrators, teachers, parents, and partners, who believe that access should be granted to all children, irrespective of socioeconomic class. Armed with this audacious goal, the Agape team followed through with its mission to create educational opportunities for children who never imagined they would get a private classical Christian education. Today, we celebrate the audacity of hope of the Agape team and the hard work and resilience of our entire school, especially the graduating class of 2023.

Against all odds, the graduating class of Agape International School has proven that resilience knows no boundaries. These remarkable students have defied limitations, showing unwavering determination to obtain an education everyone once deemed unattainable. Today, we celebrate their incredible success and honor the indomitable spirit of those who supported them. We know that this is the beginning of more extraordinary achievements to come.

Breaking barriers, five of our students have passed the arduous entrance exam and excelled in their interviews for admission into the prestigious Landmark University Secondary School Omu Aran, Kwara State. The remaining ten will be attending Unity schools in Nigeria. Today, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to our resilient graduates who have overcome extenuating circumstances with sheer determination. Your unwavering commitment, hard work, and unyielding spirit have made us immensely proud. We salute your perseverance in the face of adversity and have absolute faith that you will achieve even greater heights in the future.

As we celebrate the outstanding performance of these students, we take a moment to acknowledge the profound courage exhibited by their parents, who, despite their hardships, prioritized their children's education above all else. Five of our top-performing students come from single-parent households, where their mothers, a grandmother, and a physically disabled father have taken on Herculean responsibilities to nurture and support their children's dreams. These parents deserve immense admiration for their sacrifices and steadfast belief in the transformative power of classical Christian education.

None of this would have been possible without the relentless dedication of our teachers and administrators. We recognize and appreciate their support, guidance, and belief in the potential of every single student. Their passion and commitment have shaped the lives of these graduates and paved the way for generations to come.

We also express our deepest gratitude to our invaluable partners who have generously donated funds to support our vision of providing a classical Christian education to students who are often marginalized. Your contributions have made a world of difference in the lives of these exceptional individuals, offering them a pathway to success that was once unimaginable.

As we celebrate the achievements of this remarkable graduating class, let their stories serve as a rallying call to advocate for more significant support for schools like ours. The transformative impact of quality education cannot be understated, and we must come together as a community to ensure that every child, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to thrive and succeed. Together, let us inspire more people to support schools like Agape International school, where we can empower students to overcome adversity, realize their full potential, and drive positive change in their communities.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” (Psalm 139:14)
